Approach

A clear approach

My approach to counseling is guided by positive psychology and solution-focused strategies that create real change in the lives of my clients. Less couch & looking back. More focus on your strengths and resourcefulness, rather than your weaknesses and shortcomings.

We follow sequential steps. Some may take more time than others. We progress through a cycle with an end in mind. Usually concluding somewhere between 7 - 10 sessions.

“Psychotherapy is more work than taking medication. Learning requires motivation and practice, and commitment. Like medication, the right psychotherapy given to the right patient at the right time and in the right dose can be lifesaving and life changing.”

I'm here to help you to gain the insights and understanding you need to achieve your goals and overcome your obstacles.

I have worked with a range of people in the course of my practice who have struggled with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, or simply feeling stuck in life. We usually find it most productive to adopt a forward-looking approach–exploring tools and practices to improve life going forward versus digging in the past. However, sometimes people need that too. I’m here for all of it.

“It’s about building a life. It’s about creating meaning, purpose, and enjoying the social support and environment that creates a full life. The truth is that we know what recovery requires. Our biggest task is putting into practice the many things we have learned are effective, and closing the gap between what we know and what we do.”
